I photographed these birds 15 years ago in a pond on a golf course and then forgot about the photos.  The black swan is a large waterfowl, a species of swan which breeds mainly in the southeast and southwest regions of Australia. Within Australia, the black swan is nomadic, with erratic migration patterns dependent on climatic conditions. It is a large bird with black plumage and a red bill.  Not sure I would characterize this as a great photo but it is interesting.

Certainly, a different capture and one not expected. Nice sighting Malcolm!

It is signet time again here in Australia. Most swans are fiercely protective of them. The swans are notoriously hard to photograph without blowing the white tip on the bill. The little ones are very cute.

Love the contrast between the black adult and white little ones. Thanks for sharing this lovely "oldie".
