This cockatoo is loud, can be destructive and is always entertaining. The male and female are very similar. They travel in large flocks but pair for life. They are long lived. This one decided to alight at the top of the river bank and climb down to the water for a drink, about 20 feet. The rest of the flock flew straight down to the water. It presented with the sulphur crest partially raised so that you can clearly see where the name comes from. They are a very raucous species and their calls reverberate around the forest. This was about 20 feet from our caravan with me sitting on the stool taking the shots. It was late in the day.

Smashing shot and info Kim. Lovely way to capture images. (sitting and watching). Lovely kiss of light on this Cockatoo. (where did they get that name from?)

Great pose with head turn and the yellow parts well lit, Kim. Great to see its habitat and thanks for the extra information.

Great pose and light to show off that impressive crest. Thanks for the story- it really helps to know something about a bird I'm not familiar with (although I believe they are sold in the US as pets....). Makes me wonder what kind of pet they would be, given your description. Glad to see this one in habitat.

Nice pose and background, captured here, Kim. The light on the crest, is a fine addition to the image as well.
