These are two Red browed Finches from the flock of about 20 that came into drink while I was sitting on my stool beside the ute photographing small birds.
They are seed eaters so need to drink regularly. We were camped about 20 feet above the river and there was a gum tree for cover at river level. The birds took refuge in the shrubs to rest and preen after drinking /bathing. They are found down the east side of Australia from forest to arid country, always close to water though. The sexes are very close in look. I know the second bird is not sharp but I thought presented a great juxtaposition to the stationary bird and showed the wings. Z8 with 18-600 @ 600mm F8, 1/2000 ISO 1000. Manual. HH. |
