Crickets don't sit still very long. Maybe this one was sleepy...
Pretty big crop- this lens closest focal length is 13 feet. Not really a macro lens, but no birds around here at present-just trying it out on whatever I can find...:)

Looks like a very successful test Cindy. In its own rights a lovely flower shot. The grasshopper is such a boon. Congrats.

Beautiful daylilies. The cricket is a nice surprise. I like the slight green color wash.

wonderful shot. I like how the plant and the cricket is in focus against the blurred background.
Beautiful soft light.

I love the 600PF but it would be nice if the max. magnification ration was better to make it better suited for insects.
But it seems that all 600 primes are similar here, no matter the brand.

I agree Markus. I did better with my D500 + 500PF  for that reason. Could get a little closer. And the 300PF, even better.  But I got this lens for  long distance birds, so I guess I can't complain. I do enjoy using long lenses for Macro- they don't scare the subject away. :)

By the way...it's a GRASSHOPPER, not a cricket!!! Sorry about that . Will change the title later.
