This little stoat lived on my property  during the winter  of 2022. (I thought it would be nice to see a winter scene while so many of us are enduring record high temperatures).
Anyway, there is a story about this little rascal. This picture was taken near my car. One day I drove away, all unaware of the  future event awaiting me. I drove about 3 miles from home, when this little one suddenly appeared  running frantically along the windshield wiper hollow of my car. Astonished, I immediately slowed down and was hoping to turn around and take him/her back home.( I was very fond of watching it running around, and often encountered him/her on my porch steps.)  So, as I slowed down, she took a flying leap off my car, and ran into the woods. I was very sorry to lose her and looked for her  many times along the same road. Perhaps another one will  come here, or maybe she/he even returned "home". No way to know for sure, except having seen one in a trail camera video some time later.

Fabulous story Cindy and a cracking image to honor this Stoat. It's funny how nature adapts and takes advantage of opportunities. (I would think a nice warm engine compartment an appealing option in your winter months). Saw the other day, an air filter for a car full of seeds and nuts. Didn't realize how useful air filters were for compartmentalizing seeds and nuts for mice..

Hey, Dave..yes! I know that story too! Recently a friend was attending a concert when her car just quit. The mice had chewed some wires in her car. I guess I was lucky. :)

What an interesting story, Cindy, and good to hear that she made it safely off the car, even though she went somewhere else.
