Male Painted Bunting photographed at the Laguna Seca Ranch in deep South Texas 21 April 2024.  Z9, 600 pf, 1/320, f/6.3, iso 1600.  We're lucky that Painted Buntings arrive at the ranch and then raise their young instead of migrating through.  On rare occasions, a couple will stick around until the first cold front blows through in October.

Lucky you to have this beautiful species around, Gene. Great view of the plumage and very attractive perch, too.
