Female Northern Cardinal photographed at the Laguna Seca Ranch in deep South Texas 2 May 2024.  1/800 sec, f/5.6, ISO 400.  Northern Cardinals in South Texas are a subspecies of Northern Cardinals in northern America.  The males are a deeper red and the crest is taller.  The females have more red throughout their feathers and also have a taller crest than their counterparts from northern America.

Great colorful setting that is not distracting at all. The pose with raised crest makes it even better.

Terrific perch she posed for you on ... I really like all the yellow flowers framing her.

The flowers really enhance this beautiful shot-she has such a perky look. It's a wall-hanger for sure! Thanks for the explanation too.
