They grow up so fast. I missed five days visiting with them and they are gone.
According to a local birder, living five minutes from the nesting site, saw them heading to the deeper water in the Bay.

a nice one for the last-time seeing them and the timing was perfect for the wings up too.

Somewhat disappointing I'm sure when a favourite subject is no longer present for photographing, but overall you took many fine Grebe images this season, Karl, so a successful series of photos, for 2024.

Lovely image, Karl, nice you caught up with them one last time.
Breeding season is very hectic indeed.

Lovely light, Karl. I like the wing's position in this shot, it shows it has a couple of feathers missing?

Lovely parting shot, even so! I like the wings up, as if to say good-bye.

Great wing spread, and light.

It's kind of wild how being gone from your local zone this time of year can make you miss so much ... I had to leave my area for 16 days to visit the in-laws in Minnesota, and missed a lot of the growing up photo opportunities here with these guys.

Fine wings-up pose, hope they are successful.
