Karl, The bird has really terrific details. I seem to remember that you said somewhere that you wish the Z8 could focus on a subject without the subject and/or eye detection being used like your Canon camera. If that is correct, you could put one of the dynamic area focus modes on a button to select it. Dynamic area focus modes only focuses. It does not use subject or eye detection.
