Red-Fingered Anglerfish Porophryne erythrodactylus

Portrait of a grey morph Red Fingered anglerfish, stunningly well comouflaged this was pointed out by other divers, it was sitting under a grey sponge on the side of a boulder.  The only indication I have that the fish was aware of me is that the closest eye seems to have swiveled to look at me - they trust 100% in their camoufalge.

Fascinating creature - great find and terrific portrait - thanks for sharing these glimpses of an unknown world with us, Chris - especially those of us who are hesitant about anything aquatic.

Cool closeup and I can imagine how difficult it must be to find them.

Remarkable camouflage, love the angled, close view of this creature.
