I know they are new but has anyone tried one or read any reliable reviews on these cards?  My Sony takes the Type A cards which are twice the price of Type B.  These are an amazing price per MB at $499.

I know the argument about too many fish in one basket but with the new larger files it's not as many fish as it used to be!

I think they are just beginning to ship so I doubt that there is much user experience yet.

I'm looking forward to them being common if that happens before they are  ditched for Type B's if Sony makes room for them and pays tech.  It just seems with so little competition (until now) the few manufacturers are in no hurry to lower any prices.

I may just be lucky, but I've yet to have a card fail in 20 years.  I'm more concerned about dropping a card in the mud when switching or loosing a card outside of the camera or putting it in a pocket and running it through the washing machine.  The last straw was a loon photography trip where I was missing shots changing cards.  I now use what I call my all day card which is a 325GB card in my R5 canon.  I download each night.  I might loose a day's worth of photos but then I've not lost any opportunities. Of course I've yet to have a card fail.

I agree.  Even when I don't have a card filled I typically download what is on it at the end of the day. That way it is still on the card, on my laptop and on an external.  I just really like the idea of a company coming into the field with a card dramatically lower in price compared to the existing cards but that assumes it is as reliable.  Yet to be seen.  I'd love to have a 1TB in each slot when on a trip.
With 50+MP files cards are not really as big a "basket" as they used to be.

I could not agree more as my 325gb cards were $$$. I download and end up with 3 copies, one on laptop (on second drive 2tb SSD for data only) and one on each of two sandisk SSD's. Computer in briefcase, one SSD in roll aboard, and one SSD in suitcase. I then clear the chip in the camera. Outside of "statistical photography" (where you take a lot of pictures hoping one turns out to be at the right moment) things like Hummingbirds, etc., a chip would last an entire trip.
