Inspired by Chris's post of the Ophrys scolopax, a subspecies of which we've only seen once - I've been digging through some old files, looking for orchids we would love to encounter again, with the hope of attaining better images.

One such is the Orchis quadripunctata, of which we found only a solitary example during our visits to Sardinia....reason enough to plan another trip.

Nikon D500 with Sigma 150mm macro.

Image processed in PS, BG subtly muted with Nik Color Efex.

The flower colors are beautiful against the soft background. Lovely flowers details, best seen in the larger view.

A pretty little orchid - the ones that grow wild on the coast in north eastern Scotland are very similar in colour and I loved seeing them.

Great looking little orchid, more than enough reason to go back.
