Great Horned Owls

An adult GHOwl and owlet at nest in a local park. Image captured with Samsung Galaxy s22 Ultra a couple of days ago and processed in MIX app on phone. 
BTW, the owlet from my last post was captured about four blocks away by a wildlife rescue crew and returned to the park, just to have it disappear once again. I cannot understand why they didnt hold on to it and release it when it could fly and fend for itself soon. They specialize in raptors. I had also called the New Mexico Game and Fish Dept. to see if they could come out to capture it. The officer I spoke to said that the adults would probably carry the owlet up to the nest!!! No way!!! The owlet is large and that could never happen. Besides, the nest is overcrowded with three large owlets. I’m amazed at the lack of knowledge displayed on the part of “wildlife specialists”. I doubt that the owlet will survive on it’s own, being that it already strayed four blocks away from it’s parents in a neighborhood full of dogs and coyotes. I’m not optimistic! It’s two siblings remain in the nest as of last evening.
