SH2-129, or the Squid Nebula, is a tough object to image. In fact, it was only discovered in 2011 because the Squid is mostly oxygen emission with a halo of hydrogen surrounding it that is easy to image. To get the Squid takes lots of hours. I managed to dedicate over 53 hours to this subject.
I like the name "Squid," but to the science fiction buff in me, it looks like a spaceship emerging through a wormhole! EQ6 mount, skywatcher ED80 telescope, ZWO ASI 294MC using an optolong L-extreme filter. |
