I don't know of a proper name for the feathery crystals that form when it's extremely cold - so hoarfrost will have to do. It was -7 degrees Fahrenheit when I took this, brr. Please click on the image for the uncompressed view.

I'm not an expert but that seems a fair description Tom. (I do know though, the term Hoar comes from an old english adjective, "showing signs of old age".... that makes frosted leaves, trees and bushes look like white hair.. I know as I am on that journey..LOL)....Mighty cold there and a lovely image BTW.

Hoar frost or Rime? Where's an expert on frost when you need one! Beautiful feathery formations Tom and the detail is exquisite.

Whatever you call it, the feathery frost is sparkling in the extreme cold. Got you beat though-it was minus 20 degrees F here! ;)
