CANON 80D
TAMRON 150-600 @ 600mm
F7.1 @ 1/250
ISO 1000

Somewhat slow at the present for images of wintering species, so this one is from the past summer. This immature male had a few red feathers showing, which will cover the entire throat, by the time he leaves the tropics for the spring migration to the breeding grounds.( Considerable variation among individual immature males, regarding the presence of red feathers, and how heavily marked the throat is for the non-red feathers.)

Province of Ontario, Canada, image - late August 2022.

Nice pose and composition with that flash of red. Looks like it could use some NR on the background, although it may just be a downsizing artefact.

Good-looking youngster, neat to see the first red feathers on its neck.

Lovely close up image, Paul. The detail is superb when clicked on - and beautiful to see for those of us who don't get to find these adorable little birds in our country!
