Metallic Starling (Aplonis metallica) are breeding in noisy colonies near the coast in tropical northern Queensland. They only use selected trees, but come back to the same ones year after year. After breeding most migrate to New Guinea, although it seems some are now overwintering in coastal lowlands in places such as Cairns.

Very nice image, Greg, with an informative text, as well. The orange iris and the light on the centre of the breast, really set the image off, to me.

Great-looking starling species, Greg. I don't remember seeing an image of it, thanks for sharing.
