Haven't posted for a while...so....thought it was time.
Here is one from last summer's garden Dahlias.

Playing around with some high ISO at the time.
A closer crop eliminating the green areas was an option but as the whole thing was an experiment I decided to leave everything as shot from camera,

Anyway, a nice splash of color during our dreary Winter...

As you say, for final presentation - trim off the green and concentrate on that beautiful flower centre. I love the colour - and I am fascinated by the superb detail on the tiny drops that makes them appear to be floating in mid air! A welcome sight on a dark, wet and windy winter day, John!

Love the droplets- the flower almost looks animated , the way the petals curl and spread out.

I think I like it better with the crop you mentioned where no green is showing but it's still a great photo as is.
