I notice that they are not using the PF designation on it like other recent telephoto lenses. Lots of nice new features on this one, including a new type of coating.
Watch out with the pacemakers!!!

Is that for the AF working set up, or the price tag Joe.... :D

Just for info..  165mm x 437mm.  Min Focus 4.3m (14.11ft).  3,260gms.

Little bit heavier than the Sony GM version, (3,040); but has the built in 1.4 and different min focus which is 4.5 (14.8ft) of the Sony, but still a pleasing move forward. (FL F mount is 3,810 gms and has a min' focus of 4.4m).

SPECS     Scroll down a bit.

Awesome lens and I'm sure there will be a long waiting list! I have the 400/2.8TC and 800pf so I'll pass, I'm retired and on a fixed income!  :P

As a wildlife photographer, this is the lens I've been waiting for, now that I've gone mirrorless with the Z9. The Z 100-400 is a great lens. But when I need to go longer, I bought the Z 800 f6.3 PF which is light weight and does a great job and can easily be used hand held. And at that time I sold my beloved f-mount 600mm f4, which was becoming too heavy for me. But the 800mm lens leaves me without a 600mm lens, unless I add teleconverters to the 100-400.

But now, despite its very high price, this new 600mm f4 seems perfect. Still somewhat heavy at 7.2 pounds, but lighter than the old lens. Sand reportedly has weight distribution that leads to better balance when handholding. And the built-in 1.4X TC is what makes this a must have lens for me. With a flip of a switch, I'm at 840mm f5.6. Can also add external 1.4X or 2X Z teleconverters for added reach. And based on reports of the Nikon Z 400mm f2.8 with built in TC, this lens should also prove to be of great optical quality and sharpness and work well with the built-in and the external TCs.
Finally, a great feature is that the lens has easily accessed controls for Saving Focus Position - without any need to use function buttons on the camera. There is a Memory Set button to save a focus position. And then a Fn ring which will recall focus position whenever rotated. And another ring, called the Control Ring which is customizable and I have it set for changing ISO.

I've ordered the lens and when it comes, I'll trade in the Z 800mm for it.
