Options for selling camera gear?

I know this has been covered before but I wanted to see what are the best options today. Formerly, I would sell my gear on commission through Ffords of the UK as I regularly traveled there to see my relatives. That has changed and I need to find something in the USA. I would like to sell direct to customers (not via eBay) before approaching B&D, Adorama or KEH.

I'm surprised at just how much I have accumulated over the last 10 years, mostly Canon DSLRs, EF lenses and m43 gear.

And where do I start with all my camera bags, lens cases, tripods and other accessories? Is there a charity/donation other than the national chains that would appreciate these?

Cheers,

Jim

For donation items, there are several. Vietnam Veterans https://vva.org/pickup-locations/illinois/
Also, probably Hospices near you that accept donations. Just to name a couple.

For selling, I use to use facebook marketplace, but spam has increased too much so i quit posting on marketplace. If you use facebook, I would use local sale groups near you.  I recently sold some items using Nextdoor if they're available near you. I'm sure others on here have suggestions.

There are a couple of good projects that use photography to get kids involved with nature and conservation. One or both of these might be interested in some of your gear. And I believe your donation to both of these would be tax deductible as gift in kind. Worth checking into anyway. The second link is specifically to get girls involved in nature photography. :)

I realize you prefer to sell direct. However, if you decide to use a broker, I have been using MPB to sell all my DSLR gear in my switch to mirrorless. Great prices and excellent service.

Agree with Ed on MPB. In a couple of cases they even increased their valuation once they received the gear. Once they declined a piece due to an aperture problem.

Another vote for MPB.  I got what I expected in price.  They did not lowball me after getting the gear; they stuck with our original agreed price on all items.  I had quite a collection of gear and selling all in one transaction avoided a lot of hassle with individual customers.  Expect about 1/3 of current price.

For things like bags, donating them to educational institutions is an option.
