Great story. My most wanted mammal - just to see one, never mind photograph one. One of the most reliable spots is in eastern Finland where they regularly visit a blind/hide.

This is really cool! The rarity makes the entire story special. Wish I had this experience.

In Finland they are baited to come to the blind. That raises ethical issues.

Another Wolverine caught in Utah:

I’m glad that it wasn’t exterminated for killing sheep!

I've been very fortunate to have seen a couple dozen wolverines in Alaska, even a mom with 2 youngsters once. A couple sightings were while flying, one while driving in the front part of Denali NP, one in my yard in Anchorage (not a trail camera sighting, I actually saw it), and the rest while hiking or specifically looking for them. Most of my sightings were in Chugach State Park, right next to Anchorage. They are one of nature's consummate scavengers so finding a moose or Dall sheep carcass vastly improves your odds of success.

Alaska Fish and Game had some collared for a while in Chugach State Park and numerous individuals traveled well into Anchorage. One winter I had trail cameras up around my place and caught 3 or 4 different individual wolverine. One was collared, one was a large male and two sightings were mid sized individuals. So either 2 different animals or the same one twice. But then ADFG allowed trapping for several years and I haven't seen any since then. I live on the edge of Anchorage and most of the homes in this area are on 2 acre lots.
