Cold weather performance Nikon Z9

Anyone have experience shooting the Nikon Z9 in low temps, 10 deg F or less?

My Z9 is exhibiting erratic behavior in low temps. It became obvious, then unusable in -2 deg F yesterday morning in Monte Vista, CO. This am was 7 deg and similar issues, not as bad. Definitely the battery. If I warm the battery with a hand warmer, it’s better….

I suggest you contact Trond Westby or Morten Hillmer, who have both used the Z9 in freezing conditions in Norway / Svalbard.

I have two new batteries and tried both with no change in performance. Thank you.

I’ve used mine in -10-15 Celsius , not sure what that is in Fahrenheit, but I’ve not had any issues.

I had an idea that might help, what if you prevent the camera from entering sleep mode? That way it’s generating a bit of heat to keep things warm? Might need more batteries though.

I’ve been shooting at -10 to -15F (wind chills worse). I haven’t had problems,
but I’ve (and camera) been shielded from the wind.
Hope not systemic problem as most of my months are spent in below temps.

I was out in -20C - -30C (-22F) for four hours on a few different days. The battery life was good and only down a bar or two.
