For those of you with a Z 9, some questions regarding the battery charger and cables.

With the Z 9, does it come with an USB power adapter and USB cable to charge the Battery? Some posts say there is no USB power adapter in the box. If there is no power adapter in the box, do you need a USB C or a USB A power adapter?

And which specific USB cable is needed and is that in the box too? I do not know if the cable is Type A to type USB-C or something else like type USB C to USB-C.

I did not find the needed information in the Z 9 Reference manual.

In the box is a USB-C to USB-A cable, a short one.  The battery charger can be unplugged from the battery holder part to plug into the USB-C plug on the camera for in camera charging.

Images are not impressive, but they are processed in ACR. Others have recommended that ACR is not the best with z9 files, as noted above.

I haven't tried ACR, but mine process very well in Capture One, but I haven't tried anything but lossless compressed yet, and I was shooting in good light. 

Edit: I did a quick comparison of the same image at ISO2800, Capture one is superior to Lightroom/ACR in terms of shadow noise. 

Adobe has documented that their Z9 support is “preliminary”. I infer this to mean they can decode the files, but don’t yet have their in-house tailored custom profile. Capture One 22 has a finished profile for lossless compressed, but not yet for the new lossy compressed high efficiency formats (HE/HE*). Nikon NX Studio has the best support of course, since it comes from Nikon. They updated that in December to 1.1.1.

Thanks, I’m not a big fan of OEM software, however, I gave it a short go last night. It’s a little slower than Capture One, but a preliminary look at the first level of high efficiency files suggests the quality level is good. It’ll take a more serious look to see how it stacks up to normal formats. 
One thing, the 500PF doesn’t balance well with the adapter and Z9, it puts the balance point to close to the camera. I might have to put a longer plate on the lens.

Am I correct in thinking that you are referring to when the rig is mounted on a tripod? It seems that if handholding, it shouldn’t matter that much. Also, which adapter are you using, the original or the new model?

Yes, when mounted on a tripod. You have to move the rig far forward to balance it. I'm using a Wimberley replacement foot and FTZ II. It does matter for handholding if you're using a black-rapid style shoulder strap to attach it to the tripod foot. The camera end is heavier, so the lens points upwards. I rest my hand on the camera to keep it level.

Being that I’m not familiar with the foot, I’m wondering if the foot or the whole tripod collar can be reversed to shift the balance point to the back some?

It's a non removable tripod collar! Foot is made so that it slides over a piece on the tripod collar so you can't really reverse it I don't think.

That's two firmware updates since the camera started to ship on December 24th or so, they seem eager to make sure it's a success.

I got the camera on 12/28 so I've had it 1 month tomorrow! This camera is awesome!! Keepers are way way up and sharp! 

I've treated myself to the new 400/2.8S also so I'm gonna be a real happy camper soon!!
