Canon DPP software

I shoot with an EOS 5DSr and 7d, use Canon DPP to process the RAW files.  The focusing system on the cameras work out distance and confirm focus.  DPP displays all the optical capture data and point of focus.
Is there a way of extracting point of focus distance info.  There are times I have puzzled over dof and some time how far the subject was.
Thanks, keep well and safe.

Hi Hari, I hope you are keeping well. If you get the app called Exiftool, you can drag and drop CR2 files onto the Exiftool desktop .exe icon and it will open up the file allow you to view all of associated exif date. For a Canon 7D file that I looked at it provided the following data - Focus Distance Upper : 18.09 m - Focus Distance Lower : 16.15 m. I'm not sure quite what that means - dof (?). Hope this helps.

Greetings Phil, trust that you are keeping well too.
Agree it is puzzling. The App can refer to an internal table and calculate the dof. However it cannot confirm this without a controlled test, but how to determine distance of the pint or focus? The camera knows it as it confirms focus.
Thanks
Hari
