I should have also included: That you should do a Nozzle Check at least once every month if your printer is not used regularly. This will allow you to find clogged nozzles and fix them before they become a serious problem. I also print a nozzle check before printing if I haven't used the printer in the previous 3-4 days. Nozzle checks are easy to do and use very little ink so it is cheap insurance that helps prevent major repairs. I use copy paper to do nozzle checks, you can use 1 piece of paper to do 4 nozzle checks.
