Why run a tour if everybody just complains about it? Or rather, why run a tour so badly that everybody complains about it. Either way since the Navajo Generating station is being closed, plan to see the Navajos acting like a cut throat corporation toward tourism now. Careful what you wish for. Sad state of affairs.

Sad news, indeed. I'm really glad that I visited this amazing place 10 years ago. We were a small group of 6 serious photographers and had plenty of time to place our tripods and take pictures wherever we wanted to and also to explore the Canyon by ourselves. There was only a handful number of other visitors around. Times have dramatically changed since then and as the article says the popularity has raised thanks to the social media. I think it's the evil of the social media age that the selfie hype is going to turn more and more natural wonders and attractions into a circus for the masses self-absorbed in their narcissism.

Interesting to think that the most expensive photo ever sol, Peter Lik's photo in Upper Canyon that was reportedly sold to Elton John for $6M, will not be possible going forward...

Now it will probably sell for $60 million to another sucker with too much money and Peter Lik will raise his prices to astronomical levels!!! Oh, I forgot that they are already way out there!!!

Never been to Antelope, but is seems rather all or nothing thinking to totally eliminate photo tours. Why not offer fewer of them, say on Mondays or every other Tuesday? Or make Mondays photo tour day with general tours offered the rest of the week? While demand might be higher than tour availability doing that, at least it gives really serious photographers an option without compromising the experience of people on the general tours.
