Is it ever worth risking your life for a better image of a potentially dangerous animal? There are so many great elephant images already taken  by people with proper equipment, so why do something like this?

Mana pools area is also popular for walking safaris where the guides will take a person on foot, quite close to the animals. As with any such venture, caution is the key, combined with common sense. These are wild animals with highly enhanced survival skills. Feel sorry for the tourist, but it is stupid to get out of a vehicle in an area where the animals are not used to seeing humans walking around.  Sadly, too many people ignore warnings. Lions have killed tourists leaning out of open windows or simply walking around where they are not supposed to.
