poster print on flat (non-glossy) paper

I do a lot of hummingbird photography using multiple flashes. I use a cheap 20" x 30" print from Walgreens as the background. Walgreens prints on a semi-glossy paper. Occasionally I have difficulty in eliminating bright reflections from the background. I am looking for a source to make the BG prints on flat paper. The only flat paper prints I can find are on fine art paper and very expensive. Have tried a google search without any luck.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Try Breathing Color Vibrance Matte: https://www.breathingcolor.com/vibrance-photo-matte.
Reasonable price but requires matt black ink (MK) when printing as do most if not all matte papers.

He's looking for a printing service that does matte, not a paper ;)

Bruce, I would highly recommend Perfect Posters. And not just for what your needs are. I have used them for the past 5 years or so whenever I need low cost prints for something like exactly what you are needing. Their prints are really very good and on par with most online print shops. Don't let the name and simple looking website detour you or anyone.

I believe they are still using large format HP printers so their prints are as archival as anyone else's and at much lower pricing. They have papers ranging from gloss, metalic, satin, and three options of matte (which you are asking about) and their shipping is very low. Example of a 16x24 inch print on standard matte paper is; $16.02 and that includes shipping.

They are in Minnesota and I am in Kansas so I typically get orders in 2 days. I know if orders are placed before noon CST they ship same day.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Brad. I checked out their website. Looks like they have exactly what I want and at a good price.

Just a thought - if that doesn't work out for you, Breathing Color has a matte finish print varnish that is easily applied with a foam roller (hardware store). It comes in pint, quarts, and gallons. I suspect that a pint would last you years, as it doesn't require much to coat. I use the Timeless version for my canvases, which will work for paper prints too. A pint is around $25.

I ordered and received a 20"x30" print from Perfect Posters on their enhanced matte paper. It is perfect for my needs - very flat (no visible gloss or sheen) - and I am sure it will work very well as a background for my multiple flash hummingbird photography setup.

Thanks to Brad Mangas for the recommendation.
