Congratulations! This is the Image of the Week selection for the Travel and Culture Gallery, week ending 21st December, 2012!Hi all,
Image
Just back from a long weekend up on the Tibetan Border - some great conditions, with clear skies and some excellent Aplenglow at sunrise.

While out walking one day we were drawn to this scene unfolding below us on a terraced hillside. The fields were glowing in the high altitude sunlight, the dry air baking everything over the long winter.

Unusually, no power lines or phone cables blot this landscape, a sign that technology is slow to reach this isolated corner of the Himalaya.

Please download our FREE eBook - The Sacred Mountains of Tibet a personal tribute from Juanli and myself to this unique area.

A vertigo shot! Interesting coloration -- just a wild guess but I'll bet the reddleman lives in the house in the fg.
