Gallery Wrap Borders - Like Bayphoto Offers

I've always order my gallery prints from Bayphoto and they offer several different border effects so that you are not wrapping the actual image around the canvas sides. Effects can be seen here http://www.bayphoto.com/canvas-prints/g ... ptions.htm

I've come across a few other outlets that I would like to try for canvas prints however they don't offer these border effects. Since most of the time wrapping the actual image around the edges goofs up the composition of the photo I'm wondering how Bayphoto creates these effects? I assume it could be done in Photoshop?

If anyone has any ideas on how to do this in Photoshop that would be great! I typically use the fade to black effect but could also live with the mirrored effect if it would be easier to do.

Personally when I'm not mounting my canvas wraps in a float frame I like the mirrored effect.

Check out this link for a how-to in Photoshop:

Hope this helps!

I found this online, www.melor.com. Under tutorials>gallery wraps. Downloads a number of types and sizes of gallery wraps. It was only 35 dollars.

I use Perfect Resize (AKA Genuine Fractals) Professional Edition which has a mirror image border feature built in to the software in addition to uprezzing larger files. It only takes a couple of seconds compared to doing it in PS, and all you need to do is type in the border size you need for your canvas wrap and it does it automatically for you. Slick :!: :!:

Free 30 day trial too if you want to check it out before purchasing.

Aaron,

We typically mirror the edges for our clients that we print for. Depending on the image, I think it is the best way to do it. Filling the border with color or making a custom border is certainly an option and we have done both for clients but I would stick with mirroring for the majority.

I started out a few years ago doing appropriate colour edges but quickly changed to mirroring. I found that the PS way sometimes caused a line along the print edge and would then have to redo the process. It is expensive but I now use Perfect Resize. Perfect every time!

I use mirrored edges on all canvas wraps I sell at my gallery. Unless I misunderstood your post you're also asking for other canvas lab recommendations in addition to Bayphoto. If so, I heartily recommend Artistic Photo Canvas in Florida. I've been working with them for over two years and have sold hundreds of gallery wraps without a single return. Their customer service is also outstanding. And, to your original question, they offer multiple edge finishes including mirrored edges. Here is their website: http://www.artisticphotocanvas.com.

Good luck!

I, too, use mirrored edges using Perfect Resize.  I do clone out odd looking bits when they occur.
