Great image from your trioplan lens. Such a pleasing effect you capture Matty. Can you previsualize what you are going to capture?
Have you ever taken an image of the same subject with both your special lens and a 105 macro lens to compare the results? It would be most enlightening to me and maybe others. Also what camera are you using and does this lens fit on Canon cameras?

The background is super - the Trioplan's bokeh is hard to beat. Lovely composition as well.

Hello Jim ... Usually this kind of images I make the freehand and completely lying on the ground, I can see that coming in the viewfinder to capture, but most of the time I arrive to do a single-shot because the atmosphere around change .. the light is short and also a slight shift makes my no longer find the scene I shot .. I tried to shoot with the Sigma 150 8.2 but I do not get to get the same results in terms of background .. The Trioplan has a blurred "nervous" with sometimes a little color that do not correspond to reality ... Instead, the Sigma 150 creates a more uniform background, too uniform .. With regard to the camera .. I use a Canon 5DMKII, this camera use the Trioplan with an extension tube Kenko, the extension tube between the camera and I mount lens adapter, otherwise the mirror of the 5D crashes into sull'attaco lens. Personally, however, I noticed that this problem only happens with the mirror EXAKTA the attack, however this does not happen with M42 connection and the goal should not be to collide with the mirror ... If you have any questions I'm here and I'll answer in my little .. hoping in my English .. :(

Thanks to everyone else for their comments..

Thanks Matty I fully understand why it would be hard to compare different lens lying fully flat.

A few more questions if that is OK. I love the BG effects you are capturing

What is the size of the mushrooms that you are shooting ......... probably less than 1 inch tall?

Have you tried this with other subjects and do you have a link to those images?

So if I were to buy a Trioplan 100, 2.8 I should get one with a M42 mount and manually focus wide open

Also what length Kenko tube do you use?

Hello Jim .. the fungus in question was only slightly larger than 1 inch, I have not tried the lens with other different subjects, I recently purchased the lens and here with me now the macro season is almost over .. If you buy the Trioplan recommend the M42 attack, aperture and focus can be adjusted manually on the lens all, keep in mind that this lens has a minimum focusing distance of 1.2 meters, so it's usually use one or more pipes extension .. I use the Kenko tube 12 mm ..
