Hi all,

Thank you for your comments on my last post, and I am glad to hear that it has been selected as the weekly pick!

Shortly after a helicopter had dropped us off in the middle of the Tombstone range in Canada's Yukon territory, and we had begun hiking towards our first overnight camping site, we noticed ominous clouds and lightning quickly approaching us. Sure enough, within minutes we were painfully pelted by a wall of sleet. As if our prayers were answered, we were able to hide, wet and freezing, behind a large boulder.

As soon as the storm had passed, we realized the potential for great light, grabbed our camera gear and headed off to capture some potentially beautiful light. And beautiful it was!

As I was photographing this range of ragged peaks, already clothed in beautiful light, some remnant clouds swooped down from above, transforming this scene into otherworldly beauty. Fortunately I was able to capture it, before the last remnants of the storm quickly disappeared.

Thank you for looking and any comments you may have.

Great scene and some of the most dramatic light I've seen posted on this forum!

Oh yeah. The dusting of snow is like icing on the cake. Pun intended.

Beautiful light and an amazing vista! There's a lot of rich color and mood on display here. From the thumbnail, my first thought was "must be in Patagonia" -- these peaks have that rugged vertical look I associate with images from the Torres del Paine, but wrapped in the fall display of the Canadian north. I'm glad you didn't get washed out by the storm, and were able to quickly capitalize on the conditions. Well done!

The light is superb. One of the places I would love to go. The image looks so real, I almost felt like I could reach in to my monitor and touch it. Congratulations.
