Hi,
I've bought a 500mm AI-P not long ago and I'm looking for a manual in PDF or else.
I know this is not really the right place to ask for this but I've been looking all over the net but have been unsuccesful as of yet.

Thanks!

Christian, I have this lens too, but no lens manual for it. I do have other manuals for Nikon mf lenses and they do not say very much, so I do not think you are missing very much. F stops go from f 4 to f 22. The ring at the top allows you to set a focus range that is supposed to allow for faster focusing. I have never bothered to set mine. The drop in filter holder takes special Nikon 39mm filters, not regular 39mm filters. The lens should always have a filter in it even if it is completely clear. I remember reading that in a couple of places. If you want to add extension tubes, they will work just fine with the lens. I prefer the Nikon ones in that they have a wider diameter, and are all metal and are stronger than the other brands. The wider diameter means no risk of vignetting. With Kenko tubes, you get electronic info exchange, a plus, but they are narrower than the Nikon and you could get some vignetting. I hope you enjoy using this lens as much as I have.

I just realized that with your D 90 the Nikon extension tubes might not work with the P lens and this particular Nikon body. You may have to use the Kenko tubes. Double check your Nikon D 90 manual on this point. Joe Smith

Thanks Joe, I appreciate the infos, I have the Kenko extension tubes already but will check about the Nikon ones and the possibility of using them with the D90, I don't really mind getting the the electronic info or not...

Cheers!

I don't see the 500mm AI-P in the list of manuals for download. I've got a jpg of the original lens information sheet -- not great quality but it has the information you want. I received it from another lens owner when I bought my lens several years ago. Send me an email if you'd like me to forward a copy.
