Perch, lighting, pose, open beak - all fantastic. Did you do these setups yourself there, or were you with an Alan Murphy workshop? Great shot either way!

Tim, I did these setups myself.  They are flowers from local aloe vera plants and are fantastic because they do not wilt even in the hottest weather.  Also, because the stem is not very strong, when the birds try to land on them the perch gives way, so the birds will often put their wings up and sometimes even hover above the branch.  Thanks for asking.

Agree on all points ... having shot with both Alan and Gene on multiple occasions I can attest to both of them knowing their stuff.

Striking pose, environment and open beak. Not to mention the plants. Beautifully done.
