This cockatoo is loud, can be destructive and is always entertaining. The male and female are very similar. They travel in large flocks but pair for life. They are long lived. This one decided to alight at the top of the river bank and climb down to the water for a drink, about 20 feet. The rest of the flock flew straight down to the water. It presented with the sulphur crest partially raised so that you can clearly see where the name comes from. They are a very raucous species and their calls reverberate around the forest. This was about 20 feet from our caravan with me sitting on the stool taking the shots. It was late in the day.
