White-faced Plushback
Indigofera miniata

We're on South Padre Island (TX), world-famous for bird migration.  I saw one (bird) today!  (OK, maybe I exaggerate a bit.)   We were joking that it must be a no-fly zone today, but then we discovered some new (to us) flies.  ID at this point is tentative.  Some of these had white / creamy abdominal spots, some had yellow, this one looks like it has a custom flame job!

Thank you; we will!  The great thing about being a generalist and a hobbyist is that there’s usually consolation prizes all around.

Nice and sharp. The flower adds an interesting element too. This is a very
lovely consolation!

Not too shabby for a consolation prize. Good luck with your main target.

At least it has wings, not too distant from your original objective! Very nicely done.

Nice "almost" bird! I think the fly has a bit of camouflage on that yellow flower. Beautifully seen.
