Male Golden Bowerbird (Prionodura newtoniana) not far from his bower. Although early in the season, I suspect it will be a tough one for him, the weather in the wet tropics has been very unusual, dark grey skies all year, so there are very few flowers blooming or fruit growing which he needs to decorate the bower. He has, as I have seen described, 'and unusual feather structure that refracts light to produce pure white highlights on the plumage", you can see this here with diffused fill flash, but you can see it also if in direct sunlight, unusual for this dark rainforest dweller. One of the 14 Wet Tropics Endemics.

ISO5000, 400mm, f4, 1/1250, R5.

GJ, Thanks for the description. Photographed in very difficult conditions that you handled well.

A fascinating species and well done to find and get such a good image under the dark forest canopy, Greg! I hope he manages to find some colourful items to decorate his batchelor pad and lure in the females.
