Red Fingered Anglerfish Porophryne erythrodactylus

Back to underwater subjects, from a recent dive a Red- Fingered anglerfish, endemic to the NSW coast between Botany Bay and Jervis Bay.  Masters of camouflage, they look just like sponges till you get up close to them.  This one was hanging upside under an overhang on a boulder, it was relatively small, maybe 70mm long.

Thanks Sinuhe, UW there is a lot of weird stuff to shoot, finding it is the biggest problem, camouflage is really that good in some species.

The camo is amazing and it took me a while to work out which end I was looking at.......until I spotted the eyes, Chris!

Wild and wonderful. You reveal a whole new world to us that most will never see or hear about. Thanks for that, and the excellent shot (s).
