Veined Sun Orchid  Thelymitra venosa

From last spring, I finally found another of these orchids, they have a restricted distribution in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney.

This one was particularly challenging to shoot precariously perched near the edge of a small water fall requiring rigging of plamps to hold a diffuser over it and steady the flower, shooting with the 300mm f4 lens.  Wind was also an issue.  Multiple attempts finally got a 3 image stack I could work with.

Ah Chris, the issues we "flora / macro photographers" have to deal with....wind, bright sunlight & high contrast and locality ;)

Lovely image of an interesting species - the little faces almost look like cartoon-like.

A lot of effort - but what a result! A gorgeous orchid, colour and details, Chris.

The tiny 'orchid folk' look like little bug-eyed frogs!

Beautiful image that doesn't betray the pains taken to create it. And what a pretty flower!
