Wonderful low-angle image! The plumage looks different from what I am used to seeing, particularly on the head, neck, and breast. I am wondering what time of year this image was taken at, and whether it may be in-between winter and breeding season plumage phases.

Thanks, Tom! I took this image in late December and agree that the plumage looks a bit different than most other Long-tailed Ducks this time of the year.
