Great composition here, with the owl and the surrounding evergreens, Peter. It appears that the Canon 400mm is working out very well for you.

This would make a great greeting card- love the way this owl is surrounded by snowy branches, with a wide-eyed look. I wonder if you could give this just a touch more contrast if you use something like "shadow/highlight".
