The new version 8 is out.  Is it worth the upgrade over version 7?

I haven't upgraded yet, I have a lifetime license so it shouldn't cost me anything. I'll report back sometime in the future.

I'm a little nervous.  These guys are in Ukraine.  You hear a lot about potential cyber war by Russia. Do you think a clean install with 8 is safer than the auto update of 7?  At least Norton thinks the 8 file is "clean" but as I say I'm nervous.  Auto update I'm not sure Norton checks that.

I didn't actually know they were from Ukraine but I also think they would be a tiny little fish in a big pond and are likely to be safe, at least at the moment. I would think any cyber activity, in the short term, would be against critical infrastructure, not a tiny photo software company.

Does the lifetime license include version updates? That’s pretty good if it does.

It has so far, I bought when it was on Version 5 and I'm now on 7 and haven't had to pay any more money.  I haven't tried upgrading to 8 yet.

I've a lifetime license and upgraded today for free. Have not tried it. I'm not sure that I would not have preferred to stay with last version of 7 as it had been out long enough to be bug free. Support may dry up and Version 8 has only been out a short time with two updates in February. I've got 8 but have not tried it out.

I upgraded tonight without a hitch other than an unusually slow download. I haven’t really used it but at least on the surface, it doesn’t look materially different from version 7.

I'm on version 7.7.5 and with a lifetime licence. When I check for updates it says I am up to date. Is version 8 a manual download?

Helicon's update checker within the software has never recognized full version changes - it's a bug that's been there since it's beginning.  Just go to their website and manually download it and install it. :)

I'm currently on 8.1.1 and have had no problems with the upgrade...On a Mac anyway.
