Hi,

Our Canon printer is on its last legs, emitting strange groaning noises and a wonky paper tray. So time to look for a new one. Primary need is one with good quality scanning/printing of old photographs (generally on the large size) and my wife's watercolor paintings. I really don't want to invest in a dedicated scanner. Price limit is ~$200; if we can save on inks that would be great but our useage is probably not worth going with re-fillable or large cartridges. We use Apple computers.

Cheers,

Jim

Do you want A3 size printer/scanner then look at the Epson range, they do a series in printer/scanners. I am in Australia so no point me giving you links. Just do a search for Epson printer/scanners. I have been happy with mine.

I'd check HP, and watch for sales on Canon https://acephoto.net/printing/inkjet-printers/canon-pixma-ts9020-wireless-all-in-one-inkjet-printer-white/

I appreciate the replies. Are there any dedicated web sites to reviewing printers? I see too many fluff publications talking about "best of 2020" but seem little more than paid links to vendors.

Cheers,

Jim

Another place to check reviews is the wire cutter. https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-all-in-one-printer/

Hi,

I don't know if it's big enough for your needs, but for simple scans I use an EpsonXP-4100. For detailed scanning I use an Epson V800 scanner, but they are pretty pricy.

Have Fun,
Jeff
