I came upon this group of hooded mergansers composed of several males and 2 or 3 females. The males were actively courting and put on quite a show. I have never seen this many males in one place before especially with all of them courting.
I was some distance from them so had to use my 800mm lens. Capturing audio of their vocalizations was nearly impossible. There was a lot of ambient noise as well so I deleted the audio from this clip.

A lovely species, with a very interesting display. Nicely filmed.

A very nice capture of their interaction. The females are a bit outnumbered!

Bob nice video, like the displays of the males Mergansers. I think if you had a Sennheiser ME66 microphone with a good wind screen you could have got some decent audio on those ducks.
