I was wondering if anybody used the aforementioned combination and if you did what was your experience in terms of focusing speed and image quality.
Obviously there would be some reduction of both speed and quality, but would it be enough to abandon the idea to buy and use one.
800 mm at f9.0 to f11.0 would be a welcome addition when it comes to reach.

Thom Hogan describes it as Good across the frame. Not quite the acuity on the high Rez bodies, which is no surprise. Described as right on his "useable boundary".

Thanks David.
I'll give it a try if the Store I have been dealing with would allow me to return it if I don't like it.

I ended up buying the Nikon Z2.0x TC and I'm impressed with its performance. IQ is very much useable although not as good as with the bare lens (but it was expected) and the focusing speed is still pretty fast with Nikon Z8/Z100-400 combo.
