Sony has released a firmware update for the ILCE-1 (A1). The Firmware Version 1.30 update includes the following changes:

Allows selection of M and S sizes in addition to L when using Raw recording Lossless Compression
Adds 4.2.2 10 bit selection when shooting XAVC HA 8K
Allows Proxy recording during a remote computer connection
Improves the accuracy of the Eye AF feature
Fixes a remote shooting issue with Imaging Edge Desktop (Remote)
Improves the stability of the custom white balance
Improves the operational stability of the camera

I downloaded the FW update and installed it this morning with no problems

If you are happy with the existing performance of your camera, I would advise delay in updating to firmware 1.3.  I am experiencing unexpectedly reduced battery life after updating both of my A1s.

Interesting note Phil.  I just returned from a trip and hesitated to do the update just before I left.  With heavy use on the trip I was glad to have multiple batteries as it is.  My main reason to update would be the "improved eye focus".  Have you noted any improvement there?  Thanks, Jim

When you did the update, did it retain your existing settings?
Thanks,

It did for me and I'm not noticing any battery life issues after the update.

Just returned from a trip to Chile.  I continued to find much more battery drain with the latest firmware than I have experienced previously.  The new firmware is supposed to maintain your settings and it seemed to for me, except for the battery drain.  Looking through my Menu settings I couldn't really work out what was going on, but figured it must be due to some "connectivity" setting, so I set the  cameras to "airplane mode" and the battery life returned to normal.  Now I'm home, I will go through the Menus agan and try to figure it out - I did not have anything set to try and connect with the Mothership before I up-dated to the latest firmware.  I did not find any noticable improvement in the autofocus - it still seems very dependant on which Focus Area setting you have selected.  To me, the Bird Eye detection seems to work better than the Animal Eye (Puma) detection, but again it maybe biased by user error when shooting with gloves and very cold hands.
