My Nikon D7200 was accidently dropped (my bad) and as you see by the image the monitor is bright white. You can barely see the menus if you turn it on a sharp angle but needless to say this is not workable. So in regards to replacing the body would a D500 be a decent upgrade for nature/bird photography. I will be using the Nikon AF-S 80-400MM F/4.5-5.6G ED V. The reason for mentioned the D500 is a used or even new D7200 is hard to find here in southern Ontario. Thanks for any input.

* Not sure if it would be worth while sending in to Nikon for repair?

The D500 is superior to the 7200 in every respet, by quite a margin with the exception of it being 4 megapixels less. I used a D7200 as my backup to a D500 for several years and essentially never used the 7200.

If you are happy with the D7200 and the only reason you are considering replacing it is the need for screen repair, I would consider seeing if it can be repaired and at what cost if only for environmental reasons. Always better for the planet to repair if possible rather than trash something potentially useful. Might be a lot cheaper than a new camera too. Just my 2 cents worth.

I got a quote from Nikon Canada: $500 to start and that payment upfront via credit card.

Would my AF-S Nikkor 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR work on a Nikon Z50 body?

It should work using the FTZ adapter - however, I don't think the AF of the Z50 can compare to the D500.
I would check both out in a store, if possible.

I had the Nikon Z50 with the adapter and was happy to get rid of it.
I have the D500 and it is a good for everything camera.
A slightly used D850 would be a good option too, I bought one for $2600 CAN and was only half a year old.
