A lightweight lens for mirrorless:

Impressive in that it can focus at 23”! Sony E mount and L mount.

Note that it isn't at all clear in Sigma's page but this is a lens designed for full frame or crop frame E-mount cameras (FE or E in the Sony world). If it were only for E (or APS C or Super 35) it would have a DC in it's name.

I'm not sure how attractive this lens is, the Sony is a few hundred more, but you get an internal zoom that works with Sony TC's if desired. I'm not a fan of the extending zooms. I keep hoping Sigma will make a 500mm f4, or fresnel lenses. I've been hoping to see one from Sony for a long time.

Totally agree.  The internal zoom - in other words the lens does not change size or change it's balance point as you zoom is easily worth the extra money of the Sony lens.
