Hi
I am primarily a nature photographer, with a leaning towards birds.
At present I use Canon 1DxII and 1DxIII.
I am considering selling the 1DxII and getting R3 or R5.
Is it a good decision? Is there any advantage in selling the 1DxII and getting the mirrorless?
Would I be better off sticking to what I have?
Suggestions and advice welcome.
Stay Safe take care

Question like these have been asked for a couple of years or more now. Here's what likely will be the suggestions you'll get here:

1. If you're still using a dslr, sell it...NOW...body and lenses!
2. If you want to stick with Canon, get the Canon.
3. Otherwise, get the Sony.

Many veterans here have done exactly that.

You can consider renting the R5 or R3 when available to compare if you're not sure.

First off, the R3 does not exist for purchase, nor are all the specs available. The R5 will give you some distinct advantages over your DSLR, quiet operation is my favourite reason to shoot mirrorless, not to mention the greater autofocus options.

I have been using my R5 for almost a year now and would never look back. AF, high ISO performance are super. While not by much the camera is a bit lighter than my 7D2 (sold) or 5D4 (now my spare). The 45 MP really allow a lot of cropping and still have a decent image. BTW, I haven't used the 5D4 since getting the R5; it is truly a spare for when I travel far away from home. there was a bit of a learning curve. The university of YouTube helped a lot.
