Nikon announced the addition of the MC 105 2.8 VR S and MC 50 2.8 Macro lens.  Updated Road Map: (no new arrivals).

Why do you think they are ignoring the 500mm?

Good question.  Might be because they have a very successful 500 PF in the F mount which can be used via an adapter.

It might also be that 500's are oft targeted at Pro-Sumers and Pro's and that focal length will be covered in the up-coming 200-600 Z lens.  (some view that as the replacement 200-500 which was quite popular in the enthusiast sector).

No news of any PF lens for the Z series either.  Still a lot to develop.

I'm still using the old tank 500mm G version. Don't want to give up that stop of light.

I wish Nikon would make a S version of the Nikon 200mm f4 D macro lens. I have both the 105mm f2.8 anf the 200mm f4 and find the longer focal length has real advantages over the 105mm since it has a greater shooting distance.
